Carissa earned her master’s degree from Valparaiso University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is CACREP accredited. Prior to that, she studied at North Central College in Naperville, IL, and received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Business. Carissa helps teens and adults who feel lost, worried, unimportant, and misunderstood discover meaning and purpose in their lives. Her goal is to promote autonomy and build support for the life her client is striving for.
By integrating CBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, interpersonal therapy, and strengths-based approaches, Carissa is able to help clients achieve their goals in a supportive and caring environment. She believes that ensuring the clients she works with feel safe, accepted, and support is paramount in therapeutic success. She is experienced in working with individuals and families coping with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, bullying, ADHD, grief, and self-esteem issues.
