Ms. Binder is a graduate of Valparaiso University with her Master of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her undergrad degree at Western Illinois University in Law Enforcement and Judicial Administration. Ms. Binder has also acquired a specialized Trauma-Informed Care Certification through Valparaiso University. With this certificate, Ms. Binder’s focus is helping her clients process and heal from their trauma while providing psychoeducation and awareness to each client and their family
Ms. Binder has worked with children, teens, adults, incarcerated men, and families in outpatient, inpatient, detention centers, and residential settings. Her therapeutic style integrates techniques and approaches from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Play therapy.
Ms. Binder believes in having an environment that allows her clients a safe space to express themselves freely without being put down or shamed. No matter how big or how small your issues or concerns might be, Ms. Binder provides an invitation to all her clients to share what is weighing on them. She finds it important for clients to gain self-exploration, empowerment, and creativity in their sessions as well.
