Degree:

Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and Counselor Education

Cathryn Cearing is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington, where she received a Master of Science in Counseling and Counselor Education. While in her program, Cathryn researched the effects of gratitude and meaning-making on mental health and worked with university students from a variety of backgrounds to provide psychoeducation, explore strengths, and meet goals related to substance use harm reduction and mental health.

Cathryn uses an integrative approach to the therapeutic process to help clients gain self-awareness, identify challenges, and develop skills and resources to continue meeting goals outside of the therapy room. In her practice, she prioritizes collaboration and encourages honest feedback to empower clients to create meaningful change in their lives. Cathryn embraces the belief that clients inherently have the ability to grow, heal, and become their best selves, and that her role is to create a safe environment where those changes can begin. She is an LGBTQIA+-affirming and COVID-conscious practitioner.
