Ms. Walters is a graduate of Valparaiso University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and her Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and she is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Ms. Walters has been involved in the Christian Association for Psychological Studies and specializes in incorporating faith into the therapeutic experience if the client desires.

 

Lisa has worked as an outpatient therapist for over three years and she provides clinical supervision for preliminary licensed clinicians and interns. She is experienced in utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Ms. Walters’ background involves creating and directing a confidence camp for preteen girls, working in a correctional setting, counseling at a women’s recovery home, and facilitating team building for children on an outdoor ropes course.

 

Ms. Walters goal is to create a comfortable environment where her clients feel understood. She believes therapy is a place for people to let down their guard and process their authentic thoughts and feelings. By gaining self-awareness, clients can better understand their innate strengths and find ways to incorporate these positive traits into their daily living. Ms. Walters also believes by better understanding their values, individuals can connect with a deeper sense of meaning and purpose, which ultimately contributes to a more fulfilling life.
