Doctoral Level Externs and Post-Doctoral Residents

As a doctoral level extern at Pillars, you will build and maintain your own caseload of clients. In addition to maintaining your own caseload, you will gain experience in conducting intakes. Assessment options may be available, as well. We have a variety of project options, such as: starting and running a group for clients, creating informational social media content, creating specific workshops for staff (or clients), etc. We also welcome any ideas you may have as your Pillars Project, which can be discussed with your supervisor. Additionally, our externs participate in our client outreach program for our waitlist. This requires externs to make about three client phone calls a week in which they check in on our clients who are waiting for services to see if there are any additional ways we can support them prior to them being paired with one of our clinicians.

Doctoral level externs will receive 1 (one) hour of individual supervision by a licensed psychologist, as well as weekly group supervision led by licensed mental health counselors.

A master’s degree is preferred, but not required.
