Who This Service Is For
This program supports adults (18+) who:
- Want to better manage anger, frustration, or emotional outbursts
- Have experienced conflict at work, home, or within interpersonal relationships due to anger
- Are required to complete anger counseling by a court, legal system, or employer
- Are seeking practical skills for emotional regulation and healthier communication
What You Can Expect
- A structured 8-week virtual group led by licensed clinicians
- A skills-based curriculum rooted in evidence-based anger management practices
- A nonjudgmental and supportive environment focused on accountability and growth
- A Certificate of Completion issued upon successful attendance of all sessions
Topics include:
- Understanding anger triggers
- Managing stress and reactivity
- Communicating assertively (not aggressively)
- De-escalating interpersonal conflict
- Developing self-control and emotional awareness
Session Format & Frequency
- Format: Telehealth group (Mondays from 7:00 PM to 8:00PM)
- Duration: 8 weeks (you can join at any point in the cycle)
- Make-Up Options: Join the next group cycle or schedule an individual session
- Insurance: Most accepted; self-pay available

Weekly Topics
Session 1: Understanding Anger
Learn what anger is and when it becomes a problem. Explore the short-term payoffs and long-term consequences of anger. Challenge common myths that may contribute to unhealthy anger patterns.
Session 2: How We Respond to Anger
Identify events that trigger anger and understand how reactive responses can become habitual over time. Begin breaking the anger habit by increasing awareness through the Anger Awareness Record.
Session 3: Anger Control Plans
Develop personalized anger control strategies. Practice using calming tools like focused breathing to pause before reacting and regain control in high-stress moments.
Session 4: The Aggression Cycle
Understand the three-phase aggression cycle and how it affects your behavior. Learn to use the anger meter to monitor escalation. Introduce progressive muscle relaxation as a deeper tool for emotional regulation.
Session 5: Cognitive Restructuring
Explore how your thoughts influence your emotional and behavioral responses. Learn the A-B-C-D Model and thought-stopping techniques to shift away from anger-fueled thinking.
Session 6: Assertiveness Training
Differentiate between passive, aggressive, and assertive communication styles. Begin building assertiveness skills to express yourself clearly and respectfully, even in challenging situations.
Session 7: Conflict Resolution Model
Learn and apply a practical model for resolving conflict. Practice step-by-step communication techniques that reduce defensiveness and increase problem-solving.
Session 8: Anger and the Family
Examine how family dynamics shape your anger responses. Reflect on past experiences and identify healthier ways to respond to conflict within close relationships.
