Elena Makarenko is a third-year master’s student and therapist intern. She is currently enrolled in the Social Work program at Indiana University Northwest. Elena works with a wide variety of clients, such as couples, adults, and children addressing a wide range of needs including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. Elena has experience working with families on all levels addressing their emotional needs throughout all spectrums of their lives. She uses an eclectic, systems focused and strength-based approach in working with clients to fit their identified needs. Elena’s clinical interests lie in working on couples’ communication and intimacy issues. She believes that improving couples’ intimate relationships will enhance their ability to interact with one another and deal with everyday challenges. Elena is fluent in Russian, Serbian, and Macedonian languages and is culturally diverse.
